You make a break? Here's what awaits you!

It is time to face reality, sometimes, you miss a workout or two. But for some people, these pauses can last for months or even years. At this time of year, it can be hard to find the motivation. Our agendas are loaded because of the holidays, and our bellies are filled with treats and lavish meals. It is easy to say to yourself that skip a few workouts will not make a difference, unfortunately you are wrong. Here's why.

1Quelques day break!
It's not a big deal. If you exercise regularly, your body will even welcome this chance to recover. This will help repair your muscles and you may even come back stronger. Remember, however, that if you associate these days off with horrible food and alcohol, you may end up feeling bloated seriously.
2An week off!
You may notice that you feel a bit "soft". This is because your muscle fibers begin to disappear and your body retains more fluid. But, generally, you will feel still pretty good. If you put in training at this time, you should not feel a big difference in your performance.

3Plusieurs weeks without training!
Things begin to decline now. The number of mitochondria, small energy plants that feed your muscles, starts to decrease and your cardio capacity takes a big hit. You may even feel that climbing stairs can leave you breathless. You feel soft, flat, and you have lost some muscle volume.
4A months off!
Your strength and endurance have taken a hit. You have less muscle and more fat. You may feel more stress, nervousness, and have more difficulty sleeping well.
5Several months without training!
Now pick up your metabolism. You burn fewer calories and you probably feel more tired. Your heart has to work harder and your lungs do not absorb as much oxygen. You have lost a good portion of your muscles earned the room. You are fat or too skinny, caught up in the past.
6A year off!
Your body fat percentage has increased or you are seriously again before bodybuilding skinny. You lost your muscles and your metabolism is idling. Your risk of developing hypertension, type 2 diabetes, insomnia or depression increased
All this is scary is not it? Rest assured, you can very well take a break of a week or two during the holidays or vacations without affecting your progress and without feeling guilty. But do not let a few missed workouts turn into years of sports abstinence.

7Des permanently lost muscles?
Fortunately, there are still some good news. Obviously, if you did not lead for long, you will have lost muscle, and it will take time to recover.
But in reality, the muscle fibers have not totally disappeared, they have simply thinned and they retain the same numbers of cell nuclei when you're training.
In other words, you have not lost everything. And when you exercise again, your cells will be easier to produce new muscle, compared to someone who would never driven. This is what is called muscle memory.
